Install an Umbrella Chart

The scheduler-ui team bundles the shared webapp chart into its own umbrella chart in /home/student/charts/scheduler-ui. When they try to install it, Helm complains about the dependency.

Task

  • Make the chart's dependency available inside the chart, at the version that Chart.yaml asks for. Don't change Chart.yaml.
  • Install a release scheduler-ui from the chart in the namespace catalogs.
  • The bundled webapp must run 2 available replicas.

Start with cat /home/student/charts/scheduler-ui/Chart.yaml.

About this machine

Ubuntu 24.04 with a private practice cluster: a real Kubernetes API server, scheduler and controllers, and three nodes (controlplane, node01, node02). Containers are simulated, so images never download and kubectl logs/exec are not available. k is an alias for kubectl, with completion. The grader checks the cluster's final state, not the commands you typed.
