Package a Chart into a Repository

easy 10 XP ~8 minHands-on lab

The chart in /home/student/charts/storefront is ready to share. The release team wants it in the chart repository folder /home/student/repo, which a web server publishes as https://charts.example.lab.

Task

  • Package the chart as version 1.0.0 with app version 3.2.1. The archive goes in /home/student/repo.
  • Create the repository index for that folder, so the chart's download link starts with https://charts.example.lab.
  • The chart must still pass helm lint.

Start with helm show chart /home/student/charts/storefront.

About this machine

Ubuntu 24.04 with a private practice cluster: a real Kubernetes API server, scheduler and controllers, and three nodes (controlplane, node01, node02). Containers are simulated, so images never download and kubectl logs/exec are not available. k is an alias for kubectl, with completion. The grader checks the cluster's final state, not the commands you typed.
