Someone deleted a huge log file of beacon to free disk space, but df still shows the space as used, and du cannot find it anywhere. beacon is processing payments and must not be restarted.

Task

Free the disk space held by the deleted log file.
beacon keeps running: the same process, with the same PID.
It must still be able to write log lines afterwards.
