Create Accounts from a CSV File

HR exported this week's new hires to /srv/lab/onboarding/new-hires.csv. Create their accounts.

Task

For every hire in the file:

  • create the user with a home directory under /home
  • set the account's full name (comment field) exactly as in the file
  • add the user to the team group from the file (create the group if needed)
  • set the login shell from the file

Rows that are commented out with # are hires who withdrew: do not create them. The file has a header row.

About this machine

Ubuntu 24.04 with no internet access. You are student with passwordless sudo. The grader checks the final state of the machine, not the commands you typed. Values like names and ports are generated for you.
