Match Certificates to Their Keys

medium 20 XP ~8 minHands-on lab Pro

A previous admin dumped certificates and keys into /srv/lab/certs-dump with useless names. The orion service fails with key values mismatch.

Task

  • Find the certificate for orion.internal that is currently valid (there is also an expired one) and the private key that belongs to it.
  • Install them as /etc/orion/tls.crt and /etc/orion/tls.key (copies; the key readable only by root).
  • Write /home/student/pairs.txt listing every certificate in the dump and its matching key, one pair per line as CERTFILE KEYFILE (file names only, no paths), sorted by certificate file name. Leave out certificates that have no key in the dump.
