Run a Batch Job in Parallel

easy 10 XP ~6 minHands-on lab

The vendors team needs a one-off batch run.

Task

  • Create a Job reindex in vendors running the image busybox:1.36 with the command sh -c "echo processing; sleep 2".
  • It must succeed 6 times in total, running at most 2 Pods at the same time.
  • It gives up after 4 failed retries, and is stopped if it runs longer than 300 seconds.
  • Its finished Job is deleted automatically 600 seconds after it completes.
  • The Job must complete.

Start with kubectl create job --help.

About this machine

Ubuntu 24.04 with a private practice cluster: a real Kubernetes API server, scheduler and controllers, and three nodes (controlplane, node01, node02). Containers are simulated, so images never download and kubectl logs/exec are not available. k is an alias for kubectl, with completion. The grader checks the cluster's final state, not the commands you typed.
