Stop a Process That Ignores SIGTERM

easy 10 XP ~5 minHands-on lab

A worker started from /srv/lab/bin/ledgerd has gone rogue. It ignores the normal termination request that kill sends by default. A helper with a very similar name, ledgerd-helper, is healthy and must keep running.

Task

  1. Write the PID of the rogue /srv/lab/bin/ledgerd process (a single number) to /home/student/pid.txt.
  2. Stop that process.
  3. Leave every other process running — especially ledgerd-helper.
