Edit a Config File in Place with sed

easy 10 XP ~5 minHands-on lab

The syncd service must move to a new upstream. Its config is /srv/lab/conf/syncd.conf, where the active upstream_host setting still points at legacy.internal.

Task

  • Change the active upstream_host setting to primary.internal, editing the file in place.
  • Keep a copy of the original file as /srv/lab/conf/syncd.conf.bak.
  • The commented-out upstream_host line must stay exactly as it is, and every other setting must remain unchanged.
